He was admitted hospital once with Bronchitis 11/7/1944-16/7/1944 and later recieved the war merit cross with swords on 1st September 1944. Luftschutz Auer Civil Defence Gas Mask & Tin

Original German air defence (Luftschutz) Auer made gasmask with screw filter and carry tin. Mask in very good shape with all accompanying straps. A2B marked mask dated 1937. Most of the original paper on the filter remains. Tin is complete with carry strap and belt hook. Tin still has 90% of its original paint. A very nice example overall.  read more

In 1941 Votanek was assigned to Infantry Ersatz Batalion 325 2nd Company and in 1944 transferred to Marine Artillery Flak.Abt.706 stationed in Narvik, Norway.
