German M1879 Reichrevolver Leather Holster

Original M1879 Reichrevolver leather holster as used by army officers, artillery officers and later Police and auxiliary forces in WW2. This particular holster has seen service with several units. The readable unit is Feldartillerie Regiment 42. This could have been from WW1 or even earlier. By WW2 the Reichsrevolver was massively outdated however still saw limited service with the Police and some auxiliary units. A very rare item not oftenly encountered. It does not appear to have any date/ maker stamps. These were likely on the inside flap but due to excessive wear they are no longer visible. One flap on the lid of the holster has split however it doesn’t affect the use of the holster.
