German Army Wehrpass Obergefreiter Paul Halzig 252 Infantry Division
Original German army Wehrpass issued to Obergefreiter Paul Halzig born 14.05.1913. Prior to military service, Halzig did service with the RAD 1935-1939, committing his four years service. He then joined the Luftwaffe as an engineer from October 1939 up until April 1940. From here he completed army training and joined as a regular, firstly remaining as an engineer attached to Inf.Pi.Ers.Kp.257 until September 1941. He would then go on to serve in Jager Regiment 7 as part of the 252 Infantry Division until January 1944. The 252 Infantry Division was heavily engaged on the Eastern front during the war, including the battle of Moscow and later Operation Bagration, the Soviet counter offensive that fatally destroyed AG Centre. During his service, Halzig was awarded the wound badge in Silver for wounds received in combat, Iron Cross Second Class and a late entry for the Eastern Front Medal in January 1944. There are no entries after February 1944.
