Original German army Wehrpass issued to Obergefreiter Franz Reither born 12.04.1911. Reither began military service in April 1940 attached to Inf.Ers.Btl.217 where he completed his training and would later be assigned to J.R.179 all part of the 57th Infantry Division. The 57ID operated in France and the Soviet Union. Reither would train extensively with the K98K rifle, MG34 and as part of a team operating the German infantry standard mortar Granatwerfer 34. He would get at least three close quarters combat days, leading to the issue of the Infantry Assault Badge in silver. This award was issued 16.06.1942 on the eastern front.
