German Army Soldbuch Oberleutnant Wilhelm Röttger 254ID Dunkirk & Russia Captured POW

Original WW2 German Army Soldbuch for Oberleutnant Wilhelm Röttger who served with Pioneer Battalion 254 part of the 254 Infantry Division. He was directly involved in the Battle of Dunkirk where he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd & 1st class. He remained stationed in France and was later awarded the Westwall construction medal. In January 1943 he was transferred to the eastern front and by February he was serving on the southern sector taking part in the battles of Izium and Kharkov. By July 1943 the unit was involved in operation Citadel at the Kursk Salient. By the end of 1943 Röttger had been injured four times. For this he was awarded the wound badge in silver in December 1943. He was discharged in February after recovery and took part in the battles for the Dnieper river. The unit was overrun and surrendered to Soviet forces. Soviet writing is present on the front of the soldbuch. Nothing is known of Wilhelm Röttgers survival after the war. During his service he was promoted several times.
