Scarce City of York Lord Mayor Morrell & Oscar Rowntree Chocolate Tin Christmas 1914

A very scarce chocolate tin issued to frontline soldiers serving the first Christmas overseas in 1914. These tins full of chocolate were sent out to the servicemen as a token of appreciation by the Lord Mayor and local businessman Oscar Rowntree. The tin is in fairly good shape, without contents. A rare survivor.
