German Schneetarn White Snow Smock

Original early war German Army/ Airforce snow schneetarn smock. Worn by troops over the greatcoat for extremely cold weather conditions. These were most oftenly seen on the first winter of the campaign in Russia late 1941. The extensive size would make for easily manoeuvres whilst giving a form of camouflage against the pure white surroundings. These smocks were issued in “One size fits all” and button up at the front with slits to each hip to allow soldiers to feed ammunition pouches through and all field equipment could be worn under the camo smock to remain incognito amongst surroundings. This jacket has evidence of wear with minor staining. On both upper sleeves, Luftwaffe rank insignia appears to have been removed and stitch lines remain. A Köln makers stamp is present on the jacket however no date is present. A nice rare piece, not often found due to small manufacture numbers. Ideally this would look great on a coat for a Leningrad/ Stalingrad scene.
