SS Ordnungspolizei M43 Feldblouse

Original WW2 SS Order Police M43 Feldblouse. Typical blue grey wool with OrPo insignia for the rank of Hauptwachtmeister complete with SS embroidered sleeve eagle indicating the wearer of this jacket was under SS leadership. Tunic made by Lago Weimar who produced garments for the SS using slave labour from the nearby Buchenwald KZ. Something a bit special going on the website this Friday…. Order Police Hauptwachtmeister M43 Feldblouse with elite sleeve insignia. This uniform was worn by Order Police units with specialist roles maintaining order and discipline amongst the general population of the Eastern occupied territories. Amongst some of their more sinister duties they would be responsible for the clearing of several Ghettos, firing squads and anti partisan destruction. A interesting oddity we noticed about this particular jacket was the lack of frontal belt hook holes as you would expect to see on standard M43 Feldblouse. Instead these have been applied at the side of the tunic. It was likely this contractor was responsible for only a very short line of production, possibly only to kit out a few battalions worth of men. The SS eagle appears to have always been there, there has been no evidence that a regular rounded police eagle was ever present. Evidence suggests with the wear on the collar, pits and cuffs this jacket has clearly seen use in the field of operations. From that we can conclude that the eagle is original to the tunic. It is worth noting two things. The collar tabs have been hand applied, not machine stitched from the factory. It’s hard to say wether this was period or not due to the lack of examples to compare to. Secondly the tunic over the years has suffered minor moth nip damage to the back of the left sleeve. Since we have had this tunic, it has been treated and protected from further infection.

We were lucky to find an original photograph of a mid level OrPo officer wearing this particular ensemble (Ordnungspolizei uniform with eagle). Check our final photograph to see this.

In summary this is an incredibly rare and desirable jacket relating to the most sinister time in history, it’s without doubt that a jacket like this will likely never surface again.
