German Army M30 Gasmask Tin Enamelled Jug

Quirky German army gasmask tin converted into a jug. Post war Germany saw incredibly short supplies of all metals and many metals immediately saw new purposes, most notably helmets became strainers, shovels, plant pots and buckets. This particular gas mask tin has been returned to a factory, had the lid removed, lip reshaped and a handle added. Finally it has been dipped in enamel to seal it. It now makes a conventional jug. These pieces of enamelware are becoming increasingly difficult to find. The entire jug remains in good shape. One tiny hole present in the bottom. Virtually unnoticeable on inspection. A lovely item expressing the desperation of the German state immediately post war.
