Luftwaffe Soldbuch Obergefreiter Hans Berger KG54 Battle of Britian & Extras
Original Luftwaffe Soldbuch to Hans Berger who served solely with Kampfgeschwader 54 throughout the war. Born in Vienna, 31st October 1913 he enlisted with the Luftwaffe on the 1st September 1939. Originally assigned to Jagdgruppe I/76 Wein he was placed into JG54 on 01/10/1939. He served through the Invasion of Poland, then transferred for the battle of France and later battle of Britian. The unit was later transferred to operation Barbarossa where the unit would continue to serve on the eastern front until the end of the war. Included with the Soldbuch are two passes for leave in Paris, an ID document allowing him to wear civilian clothes on leave in Paris, drivers license, hospital letter and a small booklet he has filled in regarding where he was stationed throughout service until 1942. In late 1943 Berger was admitted to hospital under code 22 (Other digestion complaints) later being diagnosed with severe Hepatic Encephalopathy otherwise known as Liver Paralysis. This kept him in hospital until August 1944. Serving as a Auto Electrician he was awarded the gold drivers badge and eastern front medal for service. After the war he was also kept on with a transport unit as a electrician. Further research required, however a really nice grouping to a famous unit.
