29th Waffen SS Grenadier Division “RONA” Russian People’s Liberation Army Field Made Volunteer Shield
Original rare Russian People’s Liberation Army (POHA/POA) field made volunteer troops sleeve shield. This example is made out of wool with hand sewn letters and insignia. Uniform removed. Some staining present with signs of heavy wear however just how you want to see them. This volunteer patch was worn by a member of the POHA who were Russian men who were often Anti Communist and anti semitic former “white Russians” who detested Stalin and the rule of the communists. Often referred to as the Kaminski brigade after its commander, they served against the soviets throughout most of the war with some time also on the western front. The unit was designated 29th Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS „RONA” and involved itself in combat as well as war crimes throughout the war. Post war many of its former members found themselves forcibly returned to the USSR and were either executed or imprisoned for treachery. The patch does not glow under UV light. This is an incredibly rare early patch, made prior to the mass produced printed type often referred to as the “2nd pattern” by collectors.
