German Army Soldbuch Major. Walter Bätz Beob.Abt.16 Artillery Listening Unit

Original German army artillery officer Soldbuch issued to Major Walter Bätz of Beobachtungsabteilung.16 which was an Artillery observation unit. Bätz served in Southern Russia throughout the entire war. He later joined Beob.Abt.69. Bätz was well decorated during the war including the German army Long service medal, Westwall medal, Iron Cross second class, Merit cross with swords Second and First class, Eastern front medal, Iron cross first class, Assault badge and wound badge in black. Certainly plenty of research can be done here. A nice Soldbuch, very difficult to obtain reasonably high officers ones. Soldbuch is a second issue, complete with a leather wallet that he would have carried the book in for protection.
